The Chester Watch Group is based at Caldy Nature Park and meets on Tuesday afternoons at half term and in the school holidays. For winter meetings we move up the road to Caldy Valley Centre but the times are the same - 2 to 4pm. Children over 8 years may come to the activities on their own; younger children are most welcome to join us but should come with an adult. All our activities are very ‘hands on’. We explore the natural environment and the different habitats in the park. While our activities are geared to children, the adults often have as much fun as they join in the activities. There is no charge for any of the meetings - and no need to book apart from our summer excursion to Hilbre Island. Future DatesOur next meeting, during half-term, will be on Tuesday 29th May. We will be pond dipping.
Help NeededIf you are interested in helping out as Watch Leader to help keep the group going, or know anyone who might be, please contact me - details below. You don't need any expertise, just enthusiasm.
Summer ProgrammeThe Only One Earth event in Grosvenor Park, Chester has previously kicked off our summer programme. It has a different format this year, and has been renamed the One Earth Festival, but will still be well worth going along to on Sunday 8 July. Summer meetings will be on the following Tuesdays: 24 July, 7 August & 21 August. More details to follow. The annual trip to Hilbre Island will be an additional event, on Thursday 23 August. You can find out what happened at the first couple of events in 2006 courtesy of the Friends of Caldy Nature Park web site. At the end of summer, the Countryside Day at Caldy Nature Park, has plenty of things for kids. The 2007 event will be on 9 September from 1pm to 5pm.
