Countryside Day 2001 |

The Friends' tent housed an exhibition of photographs of the valley over the last ten years showing how it had changed. There was also work done by local artists illustrated. Visitors were invited to comment on the designs. These comments helped us make the final decision as to what sculpture to commission to make signs for four entrances to the park. The chosen sculptures were unvelied as part of the Chester Festival of Trees on 30th November. The most unexpected event on Countryside Day was not part of the celebrations at all. A surprised group of onlookers were treated to the rare sight of a heron enjoying a squirrel for its meal. We have pictures to prove it.
